Grief Support
The loss you have experienced is unique and incomparable to any other. No loss could be worse than yours and unfortunately, there is no handbook, website, friend or family member that could begin to understand what you are going through right now. But you must go through it if you want to one day reclaim and rebuild your life.
Be prepared to go through the eight stages of grief:
- Numbness/shock
- Denial/disbelief
- Pain & Anguish
- Anger & Vengeance
- Bargaining & Control
- Guilt & Depression
- Acceptance
- Hope for the future
Know that each person has his/her own timetable for going through each stage. Take all the time you need to heal. Don't allow anyone to minimize the importance of this journey or rush you through the stages. And by all means, don't make any important decisions unless you feel certain enough of what you want and what you need.
Reach out to friends, family and co-workers for help when you need it. Contact a therapist, join a support group in your community or access these important internet links. And by all means, please be kind to yourself. |
