My work on "personal legacy planning," which has become recognized internationally, has once again been validated. Just recently I was honored with the opportunity to be a core contributing author for morningstar.com. I will be contributing articles regarding legacy planning on a regular basis for their 5.5 million registered viewers! In a recent pole, 98% of the people who had completed their legacy plan said they initially didn't think it was neccessary but afterwards felt they could not imagine living without one.

Personal Update

By now, I am sure all of you have heard that I am participating in “Americas Most Beautiful Ride,” a 100-mile cycling challenge around Lake Tahoe to beat cancer on June 6th. I am one of 19 local riders of the “Team in Training” that will be riding in honor of people who have battled, or are battling, leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma. I have personally committed to raising $5,000...which is obviously a very large amount of money to raise. It will be tough but meaningful.

I will be cycling in honor of local Rochester resident, Tony DiGaetano. In July of 2003, Tony was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, had a stem cell transplant and is still undergoing treatment. Interestingly, whenI talked with him the other day, he told me how one of his recent life-saving treatments was possible because of LLS financial support. When he shared the details about his specific situation I nearly cried on the phone. He said to me "see Mark, your efforts really do make a difference." Tony, an avid cyclist himself, is married and has 3 grown children. He also enjoys golfing (although it is difficult for him to play at the present time) and playing his bass guitar. Knowing that I am supporting the future of good people like Tony is a huge motivating factor for me.
